This is a simple, effective useful and cheap battery tester. But, because I have too much time on my hands I have some further comments. I have an accurate, high-end multimeter, but it was a bit of a pain to use it when I wanted to test whether a battery should be re-used or disposed of. Some reviewers have pointed out that this device is not accurate. Accuracy depends on your perspective. The voltage of a battery will change under load, that is, when current is being drawn, which is - spookily enough - what happens when the battery is powering a device. Furthermore, the battery tester does not have its own power source and, therefore, will draw current in order to power its own circuits and display. In practice, this is what I found when testing some used batteries: Type Nominal V Battery Tester Multimeter Button 1.5v 1.39v 1.45v 9v 9v 8.81v 8.68v AA 1.5v 1.50v 1.55v AAA 1.48v 1.48v 1.51v Generally (no idea why 9v battery is different), the battery tester reads lower because it is loading the battery. For interests sake, I took the current when testing the AA battery - 3.9mA. A quick bit of maths shows that the battery tester reads within 2% - 4% of the high-end multimeter. Bear in mind this is a BATTERY TESTER/VOLT CHECKER - not a laboratory device for calibrating atomic clocks! For the price and its purpose, the product is excellent - just get it.
